ATLANTIC OCEAN (Dec. 17, 2019) The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Carney (DDG 64) transits the Atlantic Ocean while the Spanish navy Alvaro de Bazan-class frigate ESPS Alvaro de Bazan (F 101) comes alongside during an inaugural passing exercise with the U.S. Navy’s Destroyer Squadron 60 and the Spanish navy’s 31st surface squadron, Dec. 17, 2019. Carney, forward-deployed to Rota, Spain, is on its seventh patrol in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in support of regional allies and partners as well as U.S. national security interests in Europe and Africa.
