Hargeysa (Somaliland/Somalia) - Entering the city

View when entering Somaliland's capital Hargeysa, coming from the Ethiopian border. The camion in front has quite an impressive load... Surprisingly, the houses in Hargeysa (at least in some neighbourhoods, such as the depicted one) seemed much better than in Ethiopia. However I've been told that 90 % of these nice houses are built, paid and owned by Somalis living in the diaspora.
The road in the photo is the only tarmac road in the whole country. It leads from Borama through Kalabaydh to Hargeysa and further on to Somaliland's main port Berbera, to Burco and Laascaanod. After that disputed town it crosses the "border" (there's actually no border between Somaliland and Puntland, just a broad grey zone which both entities claim to own) to Puntland and further on to Mogadishu (Muqdisho). Even if it has been built around 30 years ago, this road is still quite good (as to be seen in the photo) and the main commercial arteria of Somalia.
