Recovering from trauma in child-friendly spaces in Somalia

The Danish Refugee Council and its local partner Kaashif provide child-friendly spaces to children who were forced to leave their home and have no access to schooling. In these spaces, children feel protected and can play and socialise.

Child-friendly spaces enable parents to go about their daily activities without worrying about their children’s safety. In addition to providing a range of activities, these spaces also give children access to clean drinking water and tea.

From the initial stages of establishing a child-friendly space, the local organisation Kaashif seeks the input of the displaced community so that people feel engaged and involved in the activities being organised for their children.
