Monarch caterpillars of March - now!

Express trip up from Florida:

I couldn't believe my eyes recently when I dropped by two nearby nurseries to see what blossoms they had for early butterflies. The same nursery that helped me save a lot of Monarchs late last Fall had Asclepias curassavica in already, and the plants were crawling with Monarch cats! I bought 4 milkweed plants that had 8 caterpillars. I now have 13 at various stages including chrysalises.

I rarely see Monarch butterflies in Spring and never caterpillars. The big wave through Atlanta is in August-October as they are returning to Mexico - the ones I release are the last generation headed for Mexico. So my Monarch nurseries are up & running months early this year.
