'Sea'. by Jodie Carey, at the Foundling Museum, London. The ceramic fragments are about four inches across, and they fill the large downstairs room. They were made by taking swatches of fabric, of various textures and periods, and coating them with clay; when the clay was fired, the fabric burnt off, leaving the impressions. The artist says in a video that she was thinking of the swatches of fabric left by mothers as tokens, so they could find their child if they could return.
