Like a Whisker on a Kitten, Seeing a Rose with Raindrops is a Favorite Thing

There are times in our “pretend” busy walking about lives that we pass by the little, but important, things in life. A few of our favorite things that gives meaning and perspective as we race around. So that was part of the story with these roses in bloom, no more than a few feet from the sidewalk I was on walking back from Lake Windward. I’d actually walked by it before and never even noticed the roses with raindrops as I’d hurried on by. Yes, a shame! So I stopped when I did finally recognize this setting and display that nature was putting on for me. Yes, me :-)

Composing the image was a matter of having the aperture open enough to capture the rose and its pedals while leaving much of the rest of the bush out of focus. I was then able to work with control points and color control points in Capture NX2 to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted. I then added a Darken/Lighten Center CEP filter for the final image.
