Kyoto Suburbs Photos

The Philosophers Walk is about 2km long and runs along a canal Brief video of a street musician playing the Hang or Handpan drum An owl cafe near Fushimi Inari- Japan abounds in animal cafes And the usual adult DVD parlour near Fushimi Inari It's actually a pretty strenuous uphill trek down- well up- this road In the Arashiyama bamboo forest- this is the main attraction here More fantastic landscaping at the Tenryu-ji Zen temple A view of the main Fushimi Inari shrine through the last torii gate I was amazed that this lady was sipping straight out of the orange! I kept waiting for a lull to get a selfie made here A couple of friendly Chinese girls agreed to take my picture I suck at selfies, and my turned out pretty bad A shop near Fushimi Inari selling Japanese fans and other traditional gifts A selfie against the Silver Pavilion- it is closed to the public It would be heavenly to walk down the Philosopher's Path in peak sakura (cherry blossom) season One last shot on the Philospher's Path A short distance away from Ginkakuji is the Philosopher's Path Two Korean girls agreed to take my selfie if I would pose with one of them! Don't you simply love that mischievous look of that Korean girl! I loved the carpet of sakura (cherry blossom) petals on this side street An unexpected lull in the crowds A historic wooden cafe on the walk to the Fusihimi Inari shrine An orange torii gate greets you long before you get to the Fushimi Inari shrine Cat masks in a shop on the long market street from the first torii gate to the Fushimi Inari shrine You enter the path with those orange torii gates though that arch there Another orange torii gate and you are in Fushimi Inari The path through the orange torii gates was horribly overcrowded A lovely Japanese couple make their way up One of my famously abortive selfies in the Maruyama park A Messenger Lucky Fox statue flanks both side of the stairs
