Caught in the Morning Sunlight...and Others Not (Capitol Reef National Park)

This was a point not long after starting the hillside ascent. As the ground had somewhat leveled out, more and more of the upper peaks became more prominent and bathed in sunlight. For this image, I angled my SLR camera such that I could include some nearby foreground as a light contrast to the peaks caught in sunlight. For metering this image, I found a good shutter speed in Manual mode in the darker toned areas off in the distance. I was then able to use some Active D-Lighting to bring out the colors, hues and tones present across the rocky landscape.
