US, Japanese strengthen bilateral relationships at multiple levels

OJOJIHARA, MIYAGI, Japan (Sept. 11, 2018) - Command Sgt. Maj. Kelley Kelly of the 2-151 Infantry Regiment walks next to his counterpart with the Japan Ground Self Defense Force after a training assault during Orient Shield 2018. Orient Shield is an annual, bilateral, tactical field training exercise cohosted by the Japan Ground Self - Defense Force and U.S. Army Pacific Command. This marks the 33rd iteration of this exercise designed to enhance U.S. and Japan’s combat readiness and interoperability at the tactical level while strengthening bilateral relationships and demonstrating U.S. resolve to support the security interests of friends and allies in the region.
