A closer view of the human skulls

A closer look at the lineup of skulls inside the memorial stupa at Choueng Ek. About 5,000 skulls are believed to be displayed here. On the top shelves, not accessible as they are too high up, are also other bones from legs and hands. Some of the lower levels are opened during the day so that the skulls can be seen directly. Mercifully, none were, and I could see them all only behind the acrylic glass. (Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Apr/ May 2014)
