When a reformed jewel thief is suspected of returning to his former occupation, he must ferret out the real thief in order to prove his innocence.

The 1955 Alfred Hitchcock classic romantic thriller "To Catch a Thief" starred Cary Grant (January 18, 1904 - November 29, 1986) and Grace Kelly (November 12, 1929 - September 14, 1982). Also in the cast was Jessie Royce Landis (November 25, 1896 - February 2, 1972), John Williams (April 15, 1903 - May 5, 1983), Brigitte Auber (b. April 27, 1928), and Charles Vanel (August 21, 1892 - April 15, 1989).

Much of the Paramount Pictures film was filmed on location in France and Monaco, with breathtaking views of the coast and architecture. It won the Oscar for Best Cinematography, Color. Legendary costume designer Edith Head, who designed the film's wardrobe, including Kelly's gorgeous gowns and street clothes, was nominated for an Oscar (color film category). She lost to Charles LeMaire for his costume designs for "Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing."
