morning construction, new barbershop on November 3

Once the permissions and plans were in place, the ground was prepared, and the lines were laid (gas, water, sewer, electrical (and Internet, perhaps), then the precut, engineered framing pieces were delivered, attached, and bolted to the poured foundation to produce a light but rigid skeleton for the building.

This photo is about 1 month after the ground breaking ceremony was held and work on the site began in earnest. The erection nextdoor at the right edge of this photo began about 2 weeks later and this moment shows a portable crane lifting the beams and columns into place for the ground crew to fit together.

As for the barbershop in the center of the picture, though, protective fabric is attached to a scaffolding to baffle the sound of hammers and power tools, and to catch any flying debris from inside, or protect the new building from anything coming from the outside. With the windows and doors in place the slower paced interior work of finishing the details, enclosing the walls and ceiling and covering the floors is underway.
