This school of flower arranging is one of the primary types, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ikebana#Schools Even to a non-specialist the big scale, strong composition, and bold lines can be appreciated in contrast to the lithe spirit of some other styles of flower arrangement.

Considering the expense to source some of the more unusual colors, blossoms, and leaves, this short-lived creative outlet takes a big commitment to pursue week after week, year after year. Surely the pleasure it brings from peers, friends and family must compensate for the hard work and cost.
