buckwheat cut and threshed

A few weeks earlier I snapped pictures of the ripening field of grain, including a close-up to show the pyramid-shaped black hulls. So it was a happy coincidence to pass this way just as the farmer was collecting the grain. Besides cutting the reddish talks, separating grain from plant, and discarding the plant from the rear of the machine back onto the ground, I don't know what other functions the tracked machine performs with the grain.
