foty dragonfly: Variegated meadowhawk (Sympetrum corruptum) !

What a strange world right now: my very first dragon of the year will probably be the rarest ode I see all year. This species is very rarely spotted in the Southeast & considered a vagrant. Very common out West. I had seen only one and often said it would be the only one I'd ever see - that was on 9-25-12 and a county record! Note that is 6 months from now. This one was noticeably smaller ... she was near a flooded Little River. Where did she come from?? We also saw several darners hunting - one was a CGD but the others zipped up into the woods.
