Statue honoring founder of early womens college

At a time when few girls went beyond the obligatory 5 or 8 years of schooling, this was the location of a school dedicated to furthering the education of girls and young women. The school is no longer standing, but this statue remains behind from the early 20th century in the south side of central Takefu (today's Echizen-city) near Hon-machi.

February 1995 from 35 mm slides scanned in 12/2018.
