some mid-afternoon dragonflies near Hino River

Spring is when these prehistoric creatures crawl from their watery homes and transform into winged creatures before setting off in search of prey and later a mate (or mates?). There are many varieties, the biggest I have seen pass my nose seemed to have a wingspan of 10-12 cm! By now in early November the daylight is shorter and normally the temperature is cooler. But today is about 22 degrees C and dozens of the big fliers float here and there.
