Final preparations for Central Accord 13 ensure U.S., African partners ready for success

Maj. Jean Nko'o (in red), head of security for the Cameroon Army Engineer Base, discusses procedures for the upcoming Central Accord 13 exercise Feb. 15, 2013, near an outdoor classroom on the base in Douala, Cameroon, Africa. Joining Nko'o are (from left) Josue Onguene Ayissi, interpreter, Sgt. 1st Class Walter Joslin, antiterrorism planner with U.S. Army Africa, and Chief Warrant Officer Robert Sandberg, security specialist with the 300th Military Intelligence Brigade. Final preparations are taking place for Central Accord, a combined-joint-aerial-resupply exercise and medical resupply and evacuation exercise that kicks off Feb. 18. About 750 military personnel from Cameroon and the United States, as well as observers from several neighboring countries, will participate in the exercise that will enhance the capability of the Cameroon Defense Force to resupply forces in remote areas and will increase interoperability between the United States and Cameroon Defense Forces. U.S. participants will return to home station once the mission is complete March 1. (U.S. Army Africa photo by Staff Sgt. Amy Wieser Willson, North Dakota Army National Guard)
