A draft drawing by Antoine Caron for for Whale, one of the Valois Tapestries, on display at the Cleveland Museum of Art in Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States.

Black chalk, pen, brown ink, black ink, grey-brown wash, and white chalk on paper, made before 1576.

Caron (1521-1599) was one of the most famous artists at the French court. He likely witnessed the June 24, 1565, "masquerade" at the French city of Bayonne where this took place.
