'Detention Centre' at Choeung Ek

'Detention Centre' at Choeung Ek

Most of the poor unfortunates were executed immediately upon arrival at the Choeung Ek killing fields. However, towards the end, when the traffic increased to about 30 truckloads per day, it was not possible to kill all of them in a single night. While some were taken away to be killed, others were lodged in a 'detention centre', with no windows and no light, where they could not see the person standing next to each other. Again, this room has been dismantled, but this sign marks the site. (Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Apr/ May 2014)
