A National Park Experience Can Start in the Parking Lot if One Remembers to Look Around and Up! (Congaree National Park)

I won't deny that my first thought was getting my Mountainsmith buttpack with camera gear out to hike and explore Congaree National Park. So as I headed out to the nearby visitor center to talk with a park ranger about places to walk, I looked up...yeah, a big YEAH! The trees up high and all around me were a sight to see! As I listened carefully, I could even hear the creaking of the trees around me as the wind blew ever so. It had that feel and sound of wildness we all miss in our urban life.

For most of this first day of walking Congaree National Park, I used a Nikkor 16-35mm f/4G lens as I felt it best captured that feel of everything around. The thing was to get that 'right' angle to minimize any distortions yet capture that wide eye look of the park around me.
