Oor Skeleton

Oor Wullie (translation: Our William or Willie) is a Scottish comic strip published in The Sunday Post newspaper. It features the iconic Scottish lad from the fictional town of Auchenshoogle with his trademark spiky hair, dungarees, and and an upturned bucket, which he uses as a seat.

Running for 11 weeks, from 17 June 2019 until 30 August 2019, Oor Wullie's BIG Bucket Trail is Scotland's first ever national public art trail that features 200 artistic interpretations of Oor Wullie in cities across Scotland, helping to raise money for Edinburgh Children's Hospital, Glasgow Children's Hospital and the Archie Foundation.

Oor Skeleton is perhaps my favourite artwork of the 60 to be found in Edinburgh as he glows in the dark! Isn't he braw?

The label on the plinth reads:

Created by: Ewan Manson

"Scotland has a long history of being at the forefront of medical science, research and discovery. Here Oor Wullie's bones have been put on display for anatomical study. But just wait until it gets dark and you'll be in for a glowing surprise."
