Phra That Mae Yen is one of major attractions in Pai

Just like Pattaya, another of Pai's major attractions is a giant, white Buddha on top of a hill. The Buddha is part of Phra That Mae Yen. Some tourists walk here from Pai and climb the hill to get some nice views over the little backpacker town. The temple consists of two buildings and a few small golden chedis. In front of the temple entrance are the steps leading up to the big Buddha. Here I am at the foot of the steps leading up to the big Buddha, with those lovably ferocious naga faces at the end of the balustrade. I did not go up there though as climbing long flights of stairs are no longer my forte- I'm not so young any more! (Pai, north Thailand, Oct. 2018)
