“Mohamed Daher, deprived of his Djiboutian citizenship last year, was compulsorily sent to Somaliland two days ago.” Says Opposition sources in Djibouti. Mohamed Daher is an important figure of Muslim Brotherhood in Djibouti. He was detained last year for a while and then released though there were allegations that the Security tortured him. The Police took away his PC and other documents including his ID and passport.
Unlike other leading figures of the USN, M. Daher is a quiet man who does not talk in public and has never been seen in either Muslim Brotherhood gatherings or USN freedom rallies in Djibouti. Djiboutians don’t know much about this man. He suddenly became famous after his arrest in 2013. He is the first Djiboutian citizen who has been deprived of his citizenship since independence of Djibouti 1977.
Many Djiboutians lived in exile and still live there willingly or unwillingly but no one lost / loses his nationality except Mohamed Daher. The question is “Is it legal to send a citizen to exile because he has different views?” “Does Mohamed represent a threat to our security? If yes, how?”
Mohamed Daher owes an apology to Djiboutian security men and women. He owes an apology to all of us, as a nation, as citizens and as a state.
Djibouti is for all Djiboutians and no Djiboutian deserves such a humiliation whatever he or she does.
Peace
