Islamists spent millions of dollars on last local elections in Somaliland. They became allies with the ruling party KULMIYE because they already had what they cells and elements within Kulmiye. They succeeded to recruit young Somalilanders for A Shabab and even some ministers and high rank officials sent their sons to fight in Mogadishu to give a hand to the terrorists. After their defeat in kismayo, they lost Kismayo's port. So for the last 8 months, their eyes have been on Zeila and Lughaya...So far they have succeeded...

From the get-go, Somaliland connection of al shabab has been here, for those who want see the big picture. Al Shabab are not alien to Somaliland as some special interest group are trying to mislead the public, just consider the following:

1. The Amir of Al-Shabaab, Ahmed Abdi Godane, from Somaliland.

2. The second in Command of Al-Shabaab, Ibrahim Al-Afghani, from Somaliland.

3. The representative of Al-Shabaab in Burao is Sheekh Ali warsame, from Somaliland and he is a close relative of Axmed Mohamed Siilaanyo, the current president of Somaliland.

4. The president of self-declared Somaliland, Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo, told a group of Isaaq delegates that he met recently in London, UK. The goal of Ahmed Abdi Godane is to deny the stability of any government in Mogadishu and also to make sure that Al-Shabaab never passes beyond Dhuusamareeb, and central Somalia is to remain the buffer zone.

The list goes on.......

The die-hard Somalilanders are Al Shabaab sympathizers, and for the general public the mode is quite settle ‘the enemy of my enemy is my friend’.

The Horn of African people have right to know who runs al shabab, general consensus holds that this strange phenomenon has nothing to do with religion, the brief historical anecdote according to official US government website “The Harakat Shabaab al-Mujahidin—also known as al-Shabaab, Shabaab, the Youth, Mujahidin al-Shabaab Movement, Mujahideen Youth Movement, and many other names and variations—was the militant wing of the Somali Council of Islamic Courts that took over most of southern Somalia in the second half of 2006”.

Self declared Somaliland officially neither condemns nor supports the nonstop terrorist attacks of Al Shabaab terrorist. But self declared Somaliland hosts Dahabshiil Company that finances the terrorist activities in all of Somalia, it has headquarters in Hargeisa, self declared Somaliland and Djibouti.

Hi there!
Labo,
Thanks for information. It seems they wanted to punish the south for what Siad barre did to them in the north. In Hargueisa they have a militia called "A amru bil macruuf wa nahyu can il munkar". They reinforce Sharia law there in a way similar to that of Al Shabab. Some people wonder why some Somalilanders are trying to build a port in Lugyaha whereas that of berbera needs equipment and better access to financial aid to rehabilitate it. it is a mystery that requires a close eye to understand this.
another thing is that why both Hargueisa and Borama created tensions between clans in coastal villages last year.
It might be a coincident but this started when Al Shabab were driven out of Mogadishu and became under Kenyan and Ethiopians' pressure in Hiran and Kismayo. Their military personnel began to behave oddly during and after the elections. They shot and killed or wounded citizens in many villages and towns such hargueisa, Borama, Boroa, Lughaya, Zeila, Harirad, Loyada...
I cannot believe that former minister of Interior, Mr. Nur Arrale Duur failed to solve the issue in Zeila between Issa and Gadabursi because it is not too complicated as some people imagine.

Personally, I support peace and stability in Somaliland because this is the only way to rebuild and better opportunities to the youth. Our youth need (Somalis, Djiboutians, Ethiopians, Eritreans, Kenyans, Sudanese...) jobs, freedom of speech and travel, means of entertainment...to live instead of fear, unemployment, migration/immigration...etc
Better future for our kids.

If one goes to another country, he or she must live by its laws and justice system; in this case Somaliland is not your typical state by any international norms, it’s a no man’s land but communities that live there have their own customs, traditions and moral value, the Good Old Somali common sense applies here “ HADII AAD TAGTO MEEL LAGU IL’LAAYAHAY ISHAA LA ISKA TOORA “

In general, Djiboutian and Somalilander are not totally different communities they share the same believe, tradition, moral value and even tribal affiliation. One might argue that Djibouti has far greater exposure of western value and culture, but what speed up the cultural dilution is the government of Djibouti, after independence, the government failed to table a proper legislation that come in line with believe and moral value of the majority.

These delinquent boys come from a country (Djibouti) where there is no Indecency Act in the books and they think they can imitate the western nationals' behaviours in Djibouti and do the same thing to the other countries. What would have happened if they do the same with disregard to the Saudi tradition in Saudi Arabia? They will be coming back with bobby body-bags.

Djibouti unlike The so-called Somaliland, has had strong central government which tends to ignore the believe and cultural value of the majority, and seem to be susceptible to western Soft Power. At one point the US government demanded clarification on gay issue in Djibouti simply there is nothing in the books.

One needs to know what is this get to do with Al Shabaab, and how the incident is related them? Posting this incident under this tittle seem to have a hidden agenda.

Thanks, Labo. It is good to read your post above. I know Somalis have their own traditional values and beliefs. But Somali traditional clothes are "Gundhate and go'". Gundhate, as you know, is a piece of cloth that men wrap on and around their bodies. This does not cover their chests, stomachs or even their knees in some areas. I am glad you mentioned Sheekh Dirir. He is one of those who violate freedom of choice in Somaliland. He and his friends are trying to impose a strict Sharia law on people. He is an extreme salafist/Wahabi jihadist. They could be behind terror killings of Western nationals in Somaliland like Dr. Anna from Italy in Borama... They also persecute Somali Christian minority in Somaliland!
In Short, detaining someone because of clothes proves that Islamists are stronger than the government in Somaliland though they are wearing masks of being part of the community.

Now, the accusation is official at least in Djibnet forum as well as the other selected media sponsored by the west, that Sheikh Dirir and his associate are behind the killing of Dr Anna and recent alleged surge of the so-called Islamist in Somaliland.

Self-declared Somaliland has a weak government that has no capacity to deal with various crime syndicate, such as the group that has been mentioned here, groups financed by Gulf States special Saudi Arabia, and non stop 24/7 deadly drone attack from Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti.

Dr Anna is an other BUCUR BACAY, Somalis will pay hundreds if not thousands life for her death, the west only needs to say that they have strong believe that the alleged killing was carried out by

salafist/Wahabi jihadist.
The name of Salafi movement has been distorted by the west, Salafi group existed only the first few decades of Hijra, the attempt to revive the movement has been tried . But mixing the Wahabi with Salafi movements is like mixing apple with orange.

Wahabi movement is exported openly from Saudi Arabia, one of the strongest US ally in the region. But the West ignores the source of what they perceive the ultimate treat to their national interest and pursue unjust war on weaker nations like Yemen, Somalia, and Syria.

There is an striking similarity between War On Terror and War On Drug, the source of drugs and smuggling network into US mainland has been always controversial, but the War On Drug has been fought disproportionately against the poor and black Americans inner cities.

Why create a fictional sectarian war, Somali people always have had a minority Christian community, history tells us that got along fine with rest of Somali. Christian were invited to take part of early Independent movement. They answered the of duty to free their fellow Somalis from the colonialist.

finally as for Gundhate , من سرته الي ركبته it covers from the belly button to the knee as required, the nomadic people that you referring to, don't roam inner cities and towns, they rarely encounter Jins el-naciim.

Q 4 king(1)
Who has a right moral obligation to lecture the nation of States and communities from around the world, what is politically and morally correct way to live, for various communities that find themselves at odd with a western way of life, what would they do, in order not to subjugate themselves a daily horror drone attacks?
Russia recently passed a law banning Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) to publicly promote their behavior to children and minors. All the rational people think that Russia has a right to defend its children, and uphold the moral believe of the majority.
LGBT is not a condition, so as those people who choose to expose themselves indecently, regardless how hard the western media and special interest group tries to push their agenda, Homosexuality is a choice that is why it has nothing to do with human right. for example If the group of killers demand rights to kill any one they want, does it mean they need to have special right to do that. All human are same and must have same rights. No one has right to bring it's filthy behavior in classrooms full of children and represent it as a high human value and normal human behavior.

Good question.
There are different cultures in the world. It is true these cultures have a variety of conceptions and views concerning ways of life but they basically agree that killing an innocent person is wrong, for example. In terms of human rights, communities need to reach a certain level of cultural maturity. It is not enough to follow a specific religion or ideology... It is said that Hitler learned the Gospel of Mathew by heart! He was using the Gospel to kill people and so is doing Ahmed Godane of Al Shabab. Today is 9/11 when Al Qaeda Muslim fanatics killed innocent civilians in America. In short, man has a sinful nature; he becomes so wild and furious when he feels any change in his ways of life. In Somaliland, clerics want people to copy Arabian traditions either for men and women and by doing this, they destroy our Somali culture. I am not talking about religion here because 99 percent of Somalis are Muslims. The only suspicious elements in this region are those Salafi/Wahabi sheicks with Saudi red Ghatra and long white gowns who force people to be CDs of Arab camel herders in Saudi desert.

Which is easier to cut off the head of the snake,”Saudis” or going after his son of a gun,”Godane”?

it was an anticipate answer that you would mention 11/9, yes it happens to be the anniversary of that day, the day that the US government ( Industrial Military Complex ) went into transition unofficially from WAR ON DRUGS TO WAR ON TERRROR. What about the millions who lost their lives and continue to die for the foreseeable future as a result of illegal wars waged by the west. If the US is serious about War on Terror the perpetrators of 9/11 were mostly Saudi nationals, what action the US has taken thus far. After more than a decide the new policy of war on terror destroyed two nations and destabilized half zone countries, almost all the so-called religious fanatics are exported, financed by Saudi Arabia and armed by the west, the latest is Al nusra. What’s needed is tø cut off the head of the snake" in this case Saudis, rather than focusing the foot soldiers that they finance.

Ethiopia Accuses Three Somaliland Minsiters Having Links To Al Shabaab.
( Medeshi) -The Ethiopian government has accused three Somaliland ministers of having relations to Al Shabaab , therefore undermining the security in the region.

Among those named are Somaliland’s presidency minister Hirsi Ali Haji Hassan, Religious affairs minister Sheikh Khalil Abdilahi Ahmed and Minister of Finance Sheikh Abdulaziz Samale. Ethiopian airlines recently ceased flying to Somaliland and the relations between the two countries plunged to its lowest. The Ethiopians have based their decision not to allow their well reputed airlines to fly to Somaliland for many reason , quote”
a) The runway was upgraded with basic tarmac that will not support heavy aircraft such as the Boeing 737.
B) There are no runway markings nor have they built any parking or hangars for the aircraft.
C) The perimeter remains vulnerable and very accessible to outsider intruders ( No fence ).
D) Ethiopian heavily protested its reluctance to trust its expensive airliners with such facility particularly when most of its Boeing 737 relatively very new “The decision to stop the Ethiopian airline flights has left more than 400 people stranded in Hargeisa . These people have staged a protest last week in-front of the airline office after they gave up hope on any support by the SLD government. As a result , all the stranded Diaspora who have booked in the Ethiopian airlines have now been given the chance to travel by buses to Jigjiga and board the planes from there.

The sudden exit of Genel oil exploration company also added credibility to the security factor in the country. Genel ordered last week all its staff to exit Somaliland without prior notice to the Somaliland government. This has prompted the Somaliland ministers of Foreign and Mineral resources to fly to London and meet Genel management to contain the damage. They eventually issued a press release claiming that Genel will be back to Somaliland and that the company will continue working in the country . The reason for Genel leaving has not been disclosed.

The situation in Somaliland seems to be sliding into chaos and unless the current Somaliland government, tackles corruption , poor governance , rectifies the errors and enhances the security situation in the country , it may end up same as Somalia.
Somaliland seceded from Somalia in 1991 but is not yet recognised by any country . The country has since had two presidential elections , one parliamentary election and three local (Municipality) elections . It has its own currency , flag ,army and police force.

Better future for our kids.

I don't know why the author of the above-mentioned article mixes all these issues though the accusation does not sound official.
