The small African nation of Djibouti has already graduated its first physicians in Cuba, thanks to scholarships this island has granted to foreign students with low incomes. Of 2,600 new health professionals recently graduated in the Institute of Higher Medical Sciences in this eastern city, 19 are from Djibouti, located in the horn of Africa. As part of the institution, the Caribbean and French-speaking Faculty of Medicine also graduated 243 young people from other nationalities, among them from Haiti and Mali. Along with the training of the Cuban medical and paramedical staff, students from 51 countries, mainly from Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, have studied in this eastern university. Sources from the educational center told Prensa Latina that the Institute will have an enrollment of 27,000 students, the largest one in history
