SunPower has signed two agreements to receive polysilicon supplies from a new plant to be built in the industrial city of Jubail, supporting in aggregate 2500MW of solar cell production over 10 years. One of the deals is with Norwegian firm NorSun AS; the other is with a JV involving NorSun and local partners Swicorp-Joussour (Swicorp) and Chemical Development Company (CDC). Each deal plans for deliveries to start in 2010, extending through 2019. PM Pai, COO of SunPower, noted that the Saudi sourcing deal is part of a strategy to diversify the company's portfolio of intermediate and long-term silicon supply contracts, toward a goal of driving down installed solar system costs by 50% by 2012.
Saudi Arabia an oil country is also planing to diversify their energy sources.

well it looks like that the main problem is that IOG doesnt have a clue on what he is reading as a briefing material.. since he must have dozens of advisers and analysts that writes his memos/speechs for him.. and as a result we see what kind of disaster PHD-level-guys can submit for the approval of their less educated boss
